Why Colorado?
The Beautiful Rocky Mountains

Colorado is located near the center of the country, but due to its geography and culture is considered a Western US state. The nation's eighth-largest state -- twice the size of New York -- Colorado has one of the most diverse landscapes in the U.S. The eastern region consists of sparsely populated plains, but it is in the capital city of Denver and the mountains to the west where Colorado has built its reputation. More than half of the state's 104,091 square miles (269,596 sq km) are made up of snow-capped mountains, green valleys, red deserts, trout-filled lakes and rivers, beautiful tundra, and rich forests. Colorado is also home to the Continental Divide, and to more than 50 mountains with peaks over 14,000 feet (4.25 km).
An Outdoor Paradise

If you enjoy the outdoors, Colorado is the place for you. The state is home to the spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park, where you can get up close to many wild animals such as eagles, elk, and bighorn sheep. Take a whitewater raft trip down a raging river, ice climb up frozen waterfalls, glide down the famous ski slopes at Aspen or Vail, hike in the mountains, swing from the world's highest suspension bridge, or simply sit back and relax in natural hot springs after a day of outdoor activity. Because of its array of recreational options and famously sunny weather, Colorado is known for being a state of very active and athletic people. According to several studies, Coloradans have the lowest rates of obesity of any state in the US.
Music, Culture, & More

With a population of nearly 5 million residents and growing every year, Colorado also boasts a variety of cultural and social options. The state hosts countless festivals and concerts year-round, from music and art to beer and ice sculptures, attracting some of the biggest names in international entertainment. With so much to offer, the only problem is deciding what to do first. Our unique mix of sophisticated culture and pristine nature ensures that your language immersion program will be more than just an English course -- it will be an adventure!
