Excursions and Activities

Practice your English, explore Denver and Colorado, and have fun!

In addition to your regular classes, BridgeEnglish organizes a wide range of social activities and excursions to enhance your English immersion experience. These activities are hosted by an English teacher, so you will be able to practice your English outside of the classroom, while having fun and getting to know Denver and the surrounding area!

Weekend Excursions

Every weekend, BridgeEnglish plans a day trip to an area attraction. The activities are open to all students and include all trip fees (except lunches). BridgeEnglish teachers will prepare the itinerary, provide transportation and give you a great tour of the attraction! You’ll spend the entire day practicing English and learning new vocabulary words with your classmates.

  Tour of Downtown Denver

  This guided tour of the city is a great way to familiarize yourself with your new "home away from home." You'll visit the State Capitol and locate all the important points of interest including museums, the public library, the U.S. Mint, the 16th street pedestrian mall, and more. This trip also includes a stop at the former home of the Titanic's "Unsinkable Molly Brown."

  Denver Zoo

  Open year-round, the Denver Zoo is home to more than 4,000 animals and is considered one of the top ten zoos in the country! Visitors are treated to a rare glimpse of such exotic animals as komodo dragons, black rhinos, polar bears, African wild dogs, maned wolves, king cobras, vampire bats, gorillas, and more!

  IMAX Theater

  Experience the highest quality movies in the world: explore underground caves, retrace the journey of Lewis and Clark, or fly around the international space station in unbelievably vivid detail. The 43 x 66 foot (13 x 20 meter) curved screen and high-tech sound system make you feel like you are in the movie!

  Sporting Events

  Denver is known for its premier sports teams and world-class stadiums, such as Invesco Field at Mile High, Pepsi Center and Coors Field.   Denver Botanic Gardens

  Relax in the Japanese gardens, stroll through flower-lined walkways, or climb to the top of the steamy indoor rainforest. One of the top-ranked botanical gardens in the US, the Denver Botanic Gardens offers a tranquil place to unwind as well as get some great pictures of exotic flora!

  Red Rocks Amphitheatre

  Visit a truly unique concert hall. This is the world's only naturally formed amphitheatre and is famous for its perfect acoustic qualities and picturesque atmosphere. It attracts the biggest names in the music industry!

  Coors Brewery

  Ever wonder how beer is made? This tour takes you through the Coors factory, the largest single site brewery in the world. Beer has been made here for 120 years using pristine snow water melting from the Rocky Mountains. Best of all, you get free samples at the end of the tour!

  Boulder

  Visit this hip university town on the edge of the mountains, famous for its ties to the "beat generation" writers such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. Today, Boulder offers plenty of culture in the form of festivals, fairs, cafes, artisan shops, galleries, street performers, and more!

  Skiing and Snowboarding

  No trip to Colorado would be complete without experiencing our world-famous skiing and snowboarding. Because of the dry climate, the snow is soft and powdery, and since the mountains are so big, the runs are wide-open and less crowded. All this is only a little more than an hour's drive from Denver!

  Snowshoeing

  Hike through the Rocky Mountains while floating on a soft layer of snow. Snowshoeing is a unique and fun way to explore Colorado's majestic winter scenery!

  Whitewater Rafting

  What could be more thrilling than crashing through class 4 and 5 rapids with your classmates? This is one of our most popular and exciting trips, one that students can't wait to share with their friends back home. And best of all, no experience is required!

  Rocky Mountain National Park

  This is one of our most popular and unforgettable trips. You will drive along the highest paved highway in the world to reach awe-inspiring vistas and spectacular hiking. Bring the camera because you're likely to see elk, bighorn sheep, coyotes, and maybe even a mountain lion! It's a real adventure!

  Black Hawk and Central City

  This is a trip to former mining communities that offers a glimpse into Colorado's cowboy past. This excursion visits many historical buildings, including the oldest operating opera house in the US. You can also try your luck in one of the area's 31 casinos!

  Garden of the Gods

  Located about 60 miles south of Denver, the Garden of the Gods is a large park that shows off the natural beauty of Colorado. Red rock formations over 500 feet tall, snow-capped mountains, and native flora and fauna make this a trip back in time to how Colorado looked when the first settlers arrived!

  Air Force Academy

  Come experience the legacy of one of the nation's finest military institutions. See the fleet of high-tech aircraft and the architecturally unique chapel. Spanning 18,000 spectacular acres nestled against the beautiful Rocky Mountains, the Academy draws thousands of visitors from around the world each year.

  Roxborough State Park

  A short drive southwest of Denver, Roxborough State Park is a National Natural Landmark. Enjoy a leisurely walk among unique rock formations where you will often come across deer, foxes, and a variety of other wildlife.

  Royal Gorge Bridge

  Walk across the highest suspension bridge in the world and, if you dare, swing from the aerial tram and catch a breathtaking view of the Arkansas River 1,053 feet (about 321 meters) below! The Royal Gorge Bridge is located in Cañon City, a pleasant two-hour drive south of Denver.

Social Activities

Like a close family, people at BridgeEnglish like to do things together. We invite our students to join teachers and staff in dozens of activities in order to have fun and practice English in a more relaxed social environment.

  Are held throughout the year at local bars, restaurants, and cafes, letting you socialize with fellow students and teachers.

  Encourage you to sample different foods from around the world as well as share your country's food with fellow classmates.

  Graduation Ceremonies

  Every Friday provide the opportunity to say goodbye to students who have finished their course and celebrate their achievements!

Every month, BridgeEnglish prepares the school calendar for teachers and students. You’ll receive a calendar on your first day of class, so you’ll always know what activities and events are being offered. Students who practice their English outside of class always improve their level!
